Guess Who? is a classic two-player board game that challenges players to use deductive reasoning and strategic thinking to identify a hidden character. The game revolves around asking yes-or-no questions and eliminating characters based on the responses, ultimately narrowing down the possibilities to identify the correct character.
The objective of Guess Who? is to be the first player to correctly guess the opponent’s chosen character. Each player has a game board consisting of a grid with various faces or pictures of characters. The characters are typically depicted with different physical attributes such as hair color, eye color, accessories, and facial features.
Guess Who?
At the beginning of the game, both players select a character from a shared deck of cards without revealing their choice to their opponent. The selected character becomes their “mystery character.”
Players take turns asking questions to gather information about their opponent’s mystery character. Questions typically focus on specific attributes shared by the characters, such as “Does your character have glasses?” or “Is your character bald?” The opponent can only respond with a simple “yes” or “no” answer.
Based on the responses received, players can start eliminating characters from their own game board. For example, if the opponent answers “no” to the question, “Does your character have glasses?” all characters with glasses can be flipped down or marked off on the player’s game board.
As the game progresses, players must carefully choose their questions to gather as much relevant information as possible and narrow down the possibilities. They can also strategically use their questions to eliminate multiple characters at once or gain an advantage by deducing which character the opponent might have.
The gameplay continues with each player asking questions, deducing information, and eliminating characters until one player feels confident enough to make a guess at the opponent’s mystery character. If the guess is correct, the guessing player wins the game. However, if the guess is incorrect, that player loses, and their opponent is declared the winner.
